Whilst living in the Costa Rican jungle we had regular visits from a troop of squirrel monkeys…towards the end of my 3 month stay I’m sure they were planning to raid the kitchen! Here are some facts about them:
They’re super cute! Sadly that means humans want them as pets, their main threats are the illegal pet trade, and deforestation.
They have the largest brain-body mass of all primates at 1:17
Because of the skull-like pattern on their face, they’re also called Death’s Head Monkeys!
