Name: Molly
Age: 9
What’s she’s been doing: At 9 years of age, Molly Steer saw a documentary which highlighted the devastating effects single use plastic has on the oceans and marine life. Living beside the Great Barrier Reef, Molly decided she wasn’t going to let this continue without a fight.
With all the innocence of youth, she started the Straw No More Project, a campaign to remove single use plastic straws from school canteens in her region. One year on, that campaign garnered international publicity, and more 110,000 people across 300 schools, businesses, and local governments have joined.
Molly has now decided it’s time to take on the big guns – McDonald’s.
McDonald’s in the UK and Ireland have already made the change, so now please support her to encourage McDonald’s Australia to cease using plastic straws in its Australian restaurants.
