Litter picking gives feel-good factor

The Christmas break and the general lack of things we’re allowed to do these days presented us with an opportunity to do what we sometimes struggle to find the time to do these days…. go on litter picks!

One good (bad) ting about litter is that it is everywhere, which means you’re never far from it and pretty much where ever you go, you’ll find some.

We usually have some pickers and bags with us in the back of the car, so they are easy to grab on the way out, making it super easy to make a walk to the shop or round the block with the dog – after all, why miss an opportunity to make a more more than just a walk. Picking up as you go and seeing a full bag of littered plastic on your return is a rewarding activity and might make you feel a bit better about things. NB. you do need to be able to not let litter and litters not get to you, though, as this can be counter productive. See it as a positive thing, and the more you do of it, the more positive you’ll feel about yourself.

Log your litter

We have been logging our litter more recently on our FREE app – you can access it by scanning this QR code with your smartphone camera. Why don’t you give it a go? Over 240 litter picks have been logged by us and others.

We’ve done a few litter picks this festive period and managed to push our family total up to 85, 719 pieces to-date. We’re trying to collect 100, 000 (that’s one for every sea mammal allegedly killed by plastic every year). It’s nearly taken us 5 years to get to this total, but it’s good to have something to aim for and provide the motivation to keep on keeping on!
