UK government to investigate single-use plastic tax

The Chancellor says the move is to help prevent pollution in the world’s oceans and to protect the environment. Every year 20% of the litter we record on UK beaches is made up of single-use plastics and, despite years of anti-litter campaigns, litter levels aren’t falling and recycling levels are stagnating. We can’t hang around when it comes to making changes – the evidence is already clear and action has to be taken now.
