Scotland will ban plastic cotton buds

Plastic cotton bud sticks, which are consistently listed in the top ten beach litter finds by MCS volunteers, are to be banned under new Scottish government plans. 3602 cotton bud sticks were found during our 2017 Great British Beach Clean on Scotland’s beaches having been wrongly flushed down the loo contributing to the rising tide of plastic on our beaches.
