A big well done to Abbotskerswell Primary School, who’ve got in touch to let us know about the great work that they’ve been doing!
Some of the Year 6 students at the school have been busy during the school day taking action against plastic pollution! They’ve met with the Catering Manager of the school that provides their lunches, who has now put steps in place to reduce the plastic in the school’s lunches. They even got a tour around his storerooms, showing the girls everything that needs to be changed when he gets his deliveries!
Aside from the business of the school, they’ve also made a curtain out of plastic bottle tops, showing off their creative skills and brightening up the school’s sensory garden! There will be a magazine, put together by the girls, sent to the pupils about plastic pollution and ways to reduce their use of plastic.
And, if that’s not enough, the girls even did the task dreaded by many – they ran a school assembly! The Year 6s showed their fellow pupils the harm plastic is doing to the environment, along with the changes that are being made at the school.
We think that the Year 6 girls from Abbotskerswell school have done an amazing job, and are an inspiration to any school wanting to take action against plastic.
We have also added them to the Map of Plastic Cleverness – whoop!
Keep up the great work, girls!
